Stainless Steel / Coarse Thread
Prevailing torque hex nuts prevent against loosening due to vibration. This all-metal lock nut has a flat surface, 3-punch locking design, meant to distort the threads of the mating bolt or screw.
The design of this all metal nut provides resistance when tightened down on a bolt thread. The friction between the threads of the nut and the bolt increases the amount of force needed to tighten (and securely lock) the assembly into place.

Material
Stainless lock nuts are commonly used in damp environments for corrosion resistance, popular across a wide range of industries: automotive, agriculture, food processing, clean energy, etc.
For any application involving marine (salt water), use A4 / 316 Stainless Steel material, available as a special order.
