Retired JIS Hex Nut / Coarse + Extra Coarse
Manufactured to retired a JIS / Japanese Industrial Standard (1960s & earlier), these hex nuts have an extra coarse thread pitch and/or an oversized wrench size. Commonly used on drum sets, bicycles, motorcycle, and automobile (Porsche) assemblies.
Dimensional Differences
The industry wide manufacturing specifications used today for JIS and DIN/ISO hardware has different dimensions than these retired JIS nuts.

Finishes
Zinc Plated and Yellow Zinc Plated finishes provide corrosion resistance without sacrificing strength. Black oxide provides minimal corrosion resistance, best for dry environments. Chrome plated nuts are commonly used on cars, motorcycles and boats due to their shiny, sleek, professional finish.
