Detail & Specs
Metric TORX DRIVE Hanger Bolt / Steel
Hanger bolts have machine threading on one end and wood/lag tapping screw threading on the other. Popular for suspending construction wiring or metal assemblies from wood.
Some hanger bolt sizes have a spanner surface / unthreaded shank portion between the two thread types.
Zinc plated finish provides corrosion resistance.
Drive Style
Torx drive hanger bolt has a specialized six-lobe drive at the end of the machine threading portion so that the lag portion can be easily installed into wood.
Torx drive screws provide higher torque transfer because the driving forces are transferred to each surface of the six lobes (wobble-free), instead of the four edges of the four edges on a phillips drive. Additional benefits include less wear on tools and no damage to the surface coating.
Applications include furniture or cabinet knobs and pulls, drapery or curtain tie-backs, ceiling suspensions, substrates for affixing solar panels.
Also known as dowel screw.
