Detail & Specs
Self-Locking Counter Nut DIN 7967 / A4 Stainless Steel
Tightens against a primary nut to secure it firmly into place. Compressing the counter nut against the primary nut causes the internal teeth / barbs of the counter nut to pinch the threads of the bolt, locking both the counter nut and the primary nut into place. Once in place, the primary nut cannot be accidentally unscrewed.
Advantages
Lighter than standard jam nuts, distorts under load and return (spring) to original shape in threaded area, reusable. This nut should be assembled by hand against the primary nut and then be tightened 1/4 to 1/2 of a turn with a wrench.
Material
A4 / 316 Superior Class stainless steel nuts are commonly used in wet environments for corrosion resistance, popular across a wide range of industries: automotive, agriculture, food processing, clean energy, etc. For any application involving marine (salt water), use A4 stainless.
