Detail & Specs
Serrated Nylon Flange Nut DIN 6926 / Stainless Steel + Black Oxide
Nylon insert locking flange nuts have a serrated, underside and are able to withstand extreme vibrations without loosening. The serrations on the bottom of the flange provide a locking action, digging into the parent material when tightened down and able to withstand extreme vibrations without loosening. Serrated flange nuts are meant to permanently mar the material they are installed against.
The flanged form acts as a built-in washer to evenly distribute force over a larger area. This nut does not damage the threads of bolts or screws and can be reused a limited number of times. Not recommended for higher temperature installations. Nylon insert color tone varies.
Finish: Black Oxide
- Abrasion resistant, does not peel, chip or rub off
- Reduces friction, prevents galling
- Does not change the strength of the stainless steel
- Practically no dimensional change to base fastener
- The spray applied during the coating process wears off over time, revealing an attractive matte black finish
The black oxide coating per MIL-DTL-13924, Class 4 on 300 series corrosion resistant steel meets 96 hours of resistance in a 5% salt spray (fog) test in accordance with ASTM B117. We recommend using stainless steel installation tools to prevent extraneous rust.
Stainless nylon lock nuts are commonly used in damp environments for corrosion resistance, popular across a wide range of industries: automotive, agriculture, food processing, clean energy, etc.
For any application involving marine (salt water), use A4 / 316 Stainless Steel material, available in bulk packs and as a special order.
Also known as prevailing torque hexagon nylon locking flange stop nut.
