Hardened Steel / K-NUT Extra Small Wrench Size
This thin walled, reduced height self locking flange nut features an extremely reduced wrench size for installation in space restricted areas. Originally designed for the aerospace industry, the super light weight design of this nut makes it popular in motorsport applications.
K-Nuts have an elliptical deformation locking design, meant to distort the threads of the mating bolt or screw. The friction between the threads of the nut and the bolt increases the amount of force needed to tighten (and securely lock) the assembly into place.
The smooth bottom flange acts as a built-in washer to evenly distribute force over a larger area against the fastening surface.
Also known as all metal lock nut, many motorsport and automotive applications. Commonly used in Aerospace applications to standards MS21042 / NAS1291
