What is an ISO 4035 A2 Stainless Jam Nut?
ISO 4035 jam nuts are metric hexagon thin nuts designed for locking, adjustment, and applications where limited thread engagement or reduced nut height is required. Though the nut on it's own does not lock, these thin nuts are commonly used as a secondary "jam" nut, they are tightened against a standard-height nut to help resist loosening caused by vibration and repeated movement. They may also be used independently where full clamping strength is not required.
Unlike the older DIN 439 standard, ISO 4035 specifies reduced wrench sizes for certain thread diameters (specifically M10 and m12), allowing for more compact assemblies while maintaining compatibility with ISO metric fasteners. This makes ISO 4035 the preferred standard for many modern metric applications. ISO 4035 nuts are also known as thin hex nuts, lock nuts, check nuts, half nuts, jam nuts, and thin pattern metric nuts.
What material is an ISO 4035 A2 Stainless Jam Nut made from?
ISO 4035 jam nuts are manufactured from A2 stainless steel, providing excellent corrosion resistance together with dependable mechanical strength for general-purpose fastening applications. A2 stainless steel performs well in humid and mildly corrosive environments while resisting rust and oxidation, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
The natural stainless finish offers long-term durability with minimal maintenance while maintaining a clean, professional appearance. A2 stainless steel provides an excellent balance of corrosion resistance, strength, and value for commercial and industrial fastening applications.
Why choose an A2 Stainless ISO 4035 Jam Nut?
A2 stainless ISO 4035 jam nuts are ideal wherever a low-profile locking nut or space-saving fastening solution is required. Their reduced height allows them to be tightened against a standard hex nut to create a reliable locking assembly without the use of nylon inserts or chemical thread lockers.
Where are ISO 4035 A2 Stainless Jam Nuts commonly used?
ISO 4035 A2 stainless jam nuts are widely used in automation equipment, robotics, conveyor systems, instrumentation, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, HVAC systems, electrical enclosures, packaging machinery, food processing equipment, agricultural machinery, architectural hardware, transportation equipment, renewable energy systems, OEM manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and general industrial assemblies.
