What is a DIN 444 A4 Stainless Eye Bolt?

DIN 444 eye bolts are metric machine-threaded eye bolts featuring a formed eye at one end for attaching cables, wires, ropes, hooks, and other hardware. DIN 444 includes different shank configurations to accommodate different fastening requirements. Type B features a partial thread, while Type LB features a full-length thread, allowing the same eye bolt style to be used across a variety of mounting applications.

The eye provides a convenient attachment point while the metric machine thread allows the eye bolt to be installed into tapped holes or used with compatible metric nuts. Type B partial-thread eye bolts are useful where a specific unthreaded shank length is required, while Type LB full-thread eye bolts provide maximum threading flexibility and adjustment. They are also known as metric eye bolts, lifting eye bolts, ring eye bolts, and eyelet bolts.

What material are DIN 444 A4 Stainless Eye Bolts made from?

These DIN 444 eye bolts are manufactured from A4 stainless steel (SAE Type 316 stainless steel), commonly referred to as marine-grade stainless steel. A4 stainless steel provides excellent resistance to corrosion, saltwater, chlorides, moisture, and many chemicals, making it an excellent choice for demanding outdoor and marine environments.

The natural stainless steel finish provides long-term corrosion resistance and a clean, professional appearance without requiring an additional protective coating. Compared with A2 stainless steel, A4 provides superior resistance in saltwater, coastal, and chemically aggressive environments.

What is the difference between DIN 444 Type B and Type LB Eye Bolts?

DIN 444 Type B eye bolts have a partial thread, leaving a portion of the shank unthreaded below the eye. This configuration can be useful when the eye bolt needs to bear against or pass through a component before the threaded portion engages.

DIN 444 Type LB eye bolts have a full-length thread, providing greater flexibility when determining the installed depth or when the eye bolt needs to be secured through varying material thicknesses. Both configurations use the same general DIN 444 eye bolt design, but the different thread lengths allow them to be selected according to the specific assembly requirements.

Where are DIN 444 A4 Stainless Eye Bolts commonly used?

DIN 444 A4 stainless eye bolts are commonly used in marine equipment, boats and yachts, dock hardware, offshore equipment, coastal infrastructure, water treatment equipment, food processing machinery, chemical processing equipment, outdoor structures, architectural installations, agricultural equipment, pumps, machinery, and general OEM manufacturing.

They are particularly well suited for marine and coastal applications, cable attachment, equipment covers, wire routing, retaining applications, and other assemblies exposed to saltwater, moisture, or corrosive environments
