The industry wide manufacturing specification used today for M5 JIS and DIN hardware is M5X0.8 coarse threading. This M5 screw is threaded to the 0.9mm extra coarse pitch and will only thread into a nut measuring M5X0.9. Phillips flat head machine screws have a 90 degree angle head style in order to sit flush with countersunk holes.
The length of flat head countersunk screws is always measured from the top of the head (overall length).
