M8X1.25 JIS 7-Mark Hex 12mm WAF - Steel JIS B-1180
7-Mark legacy bolts were mostly used in Japanese vehicles and machinery in non-critical structural but important load-bearing areas.
Smaller Across-Flats (WAF) 12mm reduced wrench size wrench size, commonly used in Japanese vehicles and equipment (Toyota, Honda, Nissan, etc.).
Automotive Restoration
7-Mark bolts are popular for restoring vehicles to factory-original condition as this original head-marking is a legacy style, no longer industry standard.
Applications: alternator brackets, accessory mounting brackets, timing covers and backing plates, engine harness grounds, exhaust heat shield brackets, transmission case cable brackets and mounts, clutch slave cylinder brackets.
*Safety-critical interior parts (like seat belts or airbags) eventually switched to higher-grade (10.9) bolts after global standardization efforts.
