M8X17 Special Oversized Wave Washer - Steel
Features a non‑standard outer diameter of approximately 17 mm, offering a larger footprint than standard DIN 137 Form A or Form B wave washers.
The oversized outer diameter increases the bearing surface beneath the screw or bolt head, helping to better distribute load and protect soft or irregular mounting surfaces such as aluminum, stamped steel, or plastic brackets.
The wave profile provides pre-load and flexibility, allowing the washer to maintain tension even when the assembly is subject to vibration, thermal cycling, or minor settling. This makes it ideal for connections where torque retention and damping are critical.
Material
Manufactured from high-strength spring steel, the washer is engineered to provide elastic deflection under load, maintaining tension and ensuring long-term fastener performance under dynamic conditions.
Available in both black oxide and mechanical zinc. Choose black oxide for indoor or concealed environments where aesthetics or conductivity may matter, or mechanical zinc plating for added corrosion resistance in exposed or semi-exposed conditions.
Possible OEM Applications
Used in automotive OEM applications: subframe attachments, under body panels, engine accessory brackets, motorcycles as well as agricultural equipment and machinery assemblies where OEM engineers specified a larger washer to suit a unique component interface.
Unlike generic DIN wave washers, this variant likely originated as a custom in-house specification for manufacturers seeking enhanced surface coverage while retaining spring characteristics for joint stability.
