General purpose flat washer, dimensions to AFNOR (French Association Fran��aise de Normalisation) NFE 25-514, Form Z. Less common than ISO or DIN standard washers, AFNOR washers may be required for specialized applications that have specific dimensional requirements.

Flat washers are placed under a bolt head or nut to evenly distribute the load of the fastener over a wider area.

Washers also provide a smooth bearing surface against the work surface, protecting it and preventing damage.
